
A is for Arcadia. Arcadia was a group Nick was in with Simon Le Bon and Roger Taylor in 1985. They came out with one album, So Red the Rose. Black hair dye and black eyeliner were used vigorously at this time.
B is for Bates. Bates is Nick's family name. He took the stagename Rhodes because he didn't like the sound Bates made; in other words, for "aesthetic reasons."
C is for Credit Cards. Nick very much enjoys shopping in his spare time. He once bought a Picasso painting with his American Express credit card.
D is for Duran Duran. Duran Duran is a group Nick started with childhood friend John Taylor. He's been involved with them since 1978.
E is for England. England is the country where Nick hails from. Hollywood, Birmingham, to be exact. He resides in London, but has residences in France and New York City as well.
F is for Film. Nick has a great love of film. He has long yearned to try his hand in film directing. Two things he has directed is The Devils video "Hawks Do Not Share" and a 1985 short with a then-unknown Elizabeth Hurley.
G is for Gemini. Nick was born on June 8, 1962, making his astrological sign Gemini (with Gemini rising). Astrologycom.com describes Geminis thusly: "You are vitally interested in what's new and fashionable, though you have a healthy skepticism which allows you to see both sides of the image. You are a party animal, but like to sit back and analyse, or send up the whole procedure. You multiply the effects of other people's energy, but can become deflated if you are out of the limelight for any length of time. Your sharp wit and excellent powers of observation make you a good raconteur, although you have a tendency to exaggerate which can cause trouble with your relationships."
H is for Haircolour. Nick's been a blonde for many years, but he's dyed his hair many hues in the past: black with red, orange, black, platinum blonde with black streaks, strawberry blonde, and more. Nick is a natural brunette.
I is for Interference. Interference is a photography book by Nick that was published in 1984. It contains poloraids Nick took of TV screens all over the world.
J is for Julie Anne. Julie Anne Friedman was Nick's wife for eight years. He met her at a yacht party in Los Angeles. Nick once proclaimed her to be the love of his life. They divorced in 1992.
K is for Kajagoogoo. Nick produced Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" (an 80s favorite to this day).
L is for Longevity. Nick's career spans more than two decades with several worldwide successes. Here's to more years of Nick Art to come!
M is for Meredith and Madeleine.
Meredith Ostrom is Nick's current girlfriend. Meredith is an actress/model and she is Nick's frequent companion in London society functions.
Madeleine Farley is Nick's ex-girlfriend. According to the Temple of Saint Nick, they met at a Christmas party. Madeleine and Nick shared a love of Dolce & Gabbana and Tim Burton films.
N is for Nick. Nick Rhodes is the star and inspiration of this website. He is such a wonderful person.
O is for Opera. Nick's ideal evening includes a visit to the Opera.
P is for Photogenic. Nick is alarmingly photogenic. For visual stimulation, visit the Pictures section of this site (you won't regret it).
Q is for Queen. See Nick the Drag Queen in the video for "Out of My Mind." He dons a powered wig and gothic-style makeup and teasingly lifts his gown's skirt in it, among other interesting things. A Must-See!
R is for Rum Runner. Rum Runner was a club in Birmingham and was Duran Duran's main hang-out. Nick DJ'd there, as well as rehearsing and writing there with the band.
S is for Simon. Simon Le Bon is Nick's good friend and happens to be in the same band Nick is in. Simon and Nick have made a pact to look after each other no matter what happens.
T is for Tatjana. Tatjana Lee Orchid Rhodes is Nick's and Julie Anne's only child and she was born on August 23, 1986. When she's not in boarding school, she's in London with Nick and visits Julie Anne for holidays in Los Angeles. At 15, she had published work in Bop magazine reviewing N*sync's music.
U is for Underrated. Nick's talents with the synthesizers and keyboards are underrated. What a pity. We, the fans, know better though :)
V is for Vegetarian. Nick has been a vegetarian since the late 1980s. He was a candidate for Sexiest Vegetarian Alive in 2002 and 2004 by the people at Peta UK. He has said one of the reasons he hasn't moved to Paris is because of the cuisine (French food is heavy on the meat).
W is for for Welcome To The Monkey House. Welcome to the Monkey House is an album by the Dandy Warhols, which Nick produced. He also did some playing in some of the tracks.
X is for Xanax. The lyrics for "Lady Xanax" were inspired by Nick's ex-girlfriend, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson. Tara has said that Nick had helped her when she was getting off drugs.
Y is for Yag. Yag is Nick's Russian Blue cat. Yag dons a diamond-stud collar and sleeps in a leopard-print bed. Nick also had a black cat in the 80s called Sebastian, but sadly had to give him away to his mother because of demanding work schedules at the time.
Z is for Ziggy Stardust. Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie is the album that started Nick's love of pop music. He bought it at the tender age of ten.
